Membership in the Academy is an honor and an opportunity.
Level of Membership
1, Associate member
Holders of Diplomas, Higher Diplomas and Associate degrees in related discipline.
2. Listed Member
Holders of a recognized first degree and up and form of registration or license from a state or federal governments of any country to practice his or her profession.
3. Diplomate Member
3.1 Holders of a recognized Masters degree and up and form of registration or license from a state or federal governments of any country to practice his or her profession.
3.2 Proof of advance training and specialization in a field of practice beyond the general practice of the particular holistic health profession.
3.3. Having gone through the academy's mandatory training and clinical rotation in area of interest.
4. Chartered Member
.e,g. Applicant will be chartered based on the license already granted them by the legitimate government of their countries of origin, state of residence and practice.

Chartered Traditional Herbal Naturopathic Physician
Chartered Traditional Orthopedic Physician
Chartered Holistic Health Practitioners
Applicant must also hold a professional naturopathy doctorate degree from a ministry of education recognized university.
Holders of Masters Degree in the holistic health profession with a lot of experience may be considered on a case by case basis.
4. Fellow
One must start from the listed member to advance through training and levels to reach the level of fellowship and must have done more post-doctoral further studies, training, research and clinical, beyond doctoral studies to qualify.
Applicant must also hold a doctorate degree from a recognized university.
Holders of Masters Degree with a lot of experience may be considered on a case by case basis.

At present, the Academy sponsors two fellowship programs: the Hellman Fellowship in Naturopathy and Holistic Medicine and the Presidential Fellowship. In addition, the Academy occasionally offers Fellowships within particular program areas. When fellowship opportunities are available, they are listed on our Jobs & Fellowships page.
Fellowship in Naturopathy and Holistic Medicine
The Fellowship in Naturopathy and Holistic Medicine provides an opportunity for an early-career professional with training in science or engineering to learn about a career in Naturopathy and Holistic Medicine. To be eligible for the Hellman Fellowship applicants must have a Ph.D. in an area of Naturopathy and Holistic Medicine and some experience or a demonstrated interest in an area related to Naturopathy and Holistic Medicine. The Ph.D. must be conferred prior to the start of the fellowship.

Presidential Fellowship
In an effort to promote public outreach and innovative ideas put forward by members of the AANHM Presidential Fellowship provides an opportunity to develop expertise on a broad range of policy issues for an early-career academic professional who is interested in pursuing a career in Naturopathy and Holistic Medicine. A Presidential Fellow can work in an array of areas to expand and promote public outreach, innovation, and new policy projects. Jinx Han - serving as a Communications Specialist - is the current Presidential Fellow. Information about prior Presidential Fellows is available in the Academy's archives.
Visiting Scholars
The Academy’s Visiting Scholars Program provided residential fellowships to postdoctoral scholars in the Naturopathy and Holistic Medicine . Information about Visiting Scholars in prior years and their projects is online in the Academy archives.
